Now back to the normal Business Buzz content!

01 HiveTrend - Dance Battle Video Trend

šŸ•ŗšŸ» Use a dance battle as a metaphor for opposing sides.

The basic idea is to have two people in a bobbing dance position facing each other.

🄊 As each side takes turns throwing fake punches at the other have text pop up above them to represent their side of the argument.

Use this video as an example to adapt to work for your industry.

02 HiveTip - Save Time Every Time

Last week we talked about the power of checklists to ensure important, repeated tasks get done correctly. This week we’re taking a look a templates.

Templates are similar, but where checklists are about quality assurance, templates are about automating redundant portions of repeated work, saving you time and effort now and into the future.

āœļø For example, you know how a lot of people have professional email signatures?

Most of them set their emails up so that when they start composing an email it already includes the email signature, allowing them to focus their time on crafting a an effective email without taking the extra time to create an email signature from scratch.

This is how to think about templates.

What parts of tasks are exactly the same each time you do them?

Ask yourself how you might turn those elements into a template.

Now, imagine how much time you’d save if you make an process improvement like that every week…

03 HiveTool - Why Some Systems Work While Others Fail

šŸ¤“ According to the law set forth by systems theorist, John Gall:

ā€œA complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.

The inverse proposition also appears to be true: a complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be made to work.

You have to start over, beginning with a simple system.ā€

In other words:

  1. Start with a small set of simple actions that bring the results you want.

  2. Only add more if it actually helps things improve.

Bonus: Occasionally, cut the weeds from your complex system that are taking energy away from the plants that bear fruit.

04 HiveTake - Rule #1 of Marketing

šŸ“– Josh Kaufman’s writes in the great book, The Personal MBA, that ā€œRule #1 of Marketing is that your potential customer’s available attention is limited.ā€

It’s important to remember that when marketing, you’re not just competing with other businesses of your type, you’re competing against everything out there:

  • Taylor Swift

  • Football

  • Rewatching The Office for the 20th time

While most of us don’t have the budgets or time to make entertainment on the levels of studios or celebrities, where we can grab peoples’ attention is in the topics we choose to cover and the value we give to solve problems in our audience and customers’ lives.

Until next time,

The HiveThink Team
