Happy Monday!
Here’s the Business Buzz with A Helpful Trend, Tip, Tool, and
a Hot Take from HiveThink to help you this week.
Before we get into that, we want to remind you that this Friday, January 12th is going to be the first Coffee Break event of the year!

Event Details
Friday, January 12th from 8:30am - 10:00am
United Way of Greater Chattanooga
630 Market St, Chattanooga, TN 37402
Coffee and baked goods from (Be)Caffeinated.
Awesome conversation provided by you and any friends you want to bring. 😉
What’s the Big Idea? 💡
The idea is to have a community-focused monthly meetup where we can create a space for awesome people across business, nonprofits, and the arts to meet each other and see what kind of wonderful things get sparked because of that.
What can you expect when you show up?
01 First, hang out and get to know people while drinking (Be)Caffeinated coffee.
02 Next, we’ll spotlight a monthly non-profit, artist, and community resource.
03 Last, but not least, a speaker will teach you something short and practical that you can apply to your life right away.
Can anyone come?
Yes! The more the merrier! We hope to see you there, and, please, bring friends!
And now back to your regularly scheduled Business Buzz! 🐝
01 HiveTrend - “We’re ____” Trend
💬 There’s a fun trend going around on social media where people say, “We’re (whatever label they want to share)”, and then explain a part of what it means to be that. Then they repeat this multiple times for the video.
☀️ This is a great one where you can share some fun stuff about what your business does or experiences on a day-to-day basis.

02 HiveTip - A Big Tip For Getting Back To It After The Holidays.
🎄 It can be hard to get back into things after the holidays.
And that’s especially disruptive if you’re in that delicate time of pursuing new goals.
Here’s an idea that can help; the “ideal me” vs. “minimum viable me” approach. The intent is to help you stretch yourself while also having grace for yourself.
Here’s how it works.
⭐️ Write out all your to-do’s like you normally would. These are your “ideal me” to-do’s.
Next, write out the smallest version or steps of each to-do that still feels like meaningful progress, but are something you could probably even do while busy, tired, or stressed. These are your “minimum viable me” to-do’s.
🎯 ✨ You start off aiming for the ideal version, but if things go crazier than you expected, remember that you still get “credit” for doing the minimum version.
Why is this so helpful?
💪 This approach gives you the opportunity to crush it when you’re in the groove, but also allows for you to keep making consistent steps forwardeven during harder times (such as coming back after a winter break). 👣
It also gives you the chance to feel positive emotions tied to your actions whether a big rush of bonus self-esteem when you hit your ideal actions, but also feel pride when you REALLY didn’t want to do something, but you were able to still show up. 😌
Give it a shot, and let us know how it works for you!
03 HiveTool - The 5 Whys
🤯 If you keep running up against the same problems in your business or life it can be really frustrating and costly. However, there's a powerful tool that can help you dig deep to uncover the root causes and pave the way for lasting solutions…
The '5 Whys' ❓❓❓❓❓
Here it is quick and to the point:
🚗 Origin:
The 5 Whys technique originated from the Toyota Production System for root cause analysis.
Basics:
Ask "why" repeatedly (usually five times) to uncover the root causes of a problem, moving beyond surface-level answers.
How It Works:
Identify the problem.
Ask "why" and answer.
Repeat five times or until you find the root cause.
Address the root causes directly.
📉 Business Example Problem:
High defect rate in manufacturing.
Why defects? - Incorrect assembly.
Why incorrect assembly? - Lack of worker training.
Why no training? - No standardized program.
Why no program? - Absence of documentation.
Why no documentation? - Lack of investment.
Root cause: Insufficient investment in training materials.
Solution: Develop a comprehensive training program.
Now, it’s your turn!
04 HiveTake - To Take The Advice Or Not To…
🌎 There’s a lot of advice out there in the world. More than ever with the internet. More than even that with social media.
😅 Even this newsletter is giving you advice, haha!
On one hand, this is incredible!
Answers and tips are available for any problem you come up against. Nice!
🛣️ The thing is, there’s not only one path to achieve the things you want to achieve in business, life, or creativity. As the old saying goes, “All roads lead to Rome.”
This can lead to a frustrating push-and-pull situation where you start going down one path of advice only to see a shiny other path from some other successful person online.
So, what do we do about this?
🔨 Instead of treating each piece of advice from some online teacher or guru as ultimate truth, what if you looked at it is a tool?
What’s this tool good for?
Who’s this tool good for?
Who’s the advice coming from? Have they done things similar to what I want to do?
⚒️ Tools, Not Rules.
Sometimes this means just taking little bits and pieces of what someone teaches, other times, most or all of the advice works well. It depends on the situation, and, mostly, it depends on you.
What you learn and apply becomes a new tool to your belt. Use it when it makes sense for you, use something else when it doesn’t. 😉
Until next time,
The HiveThink Team
